    The first humans rise into the sky

    Jean-Francois Pilatre de Rozier and the Marquis d'Arlandes lifted off from a garden in Paris in a Montgolfier hot air balloon, the first people to fly free of the ground. They drifted over the rooftops for around twenty-five minutes, and the old dream of human flight finally came true.
