A new star shakes the heavens
The astronomer Tycho Brahe saw a brilliant new star blaze up in the constellation Cassiopeia, bright enough to see in daylight. The sky was supposed to be eternal and unchanging, so a star appearing where none had been was a shock. Careful watchers realized the heavens really could change, and modern astronomy took a step forward.
