A new star blazes in the sky
A brilliant new star appeared in the constellation Ophiuchus, outshining every other star in the sky, and was first recorded in Europe on this night. Johannes Kepler studied it for a year, and it now carries his name. Its arrival helped break the old belief that the heavens never changed.
