The first picture of a black hole
Astronomers with the Event Horizon Telescope unveiled the first image ever taken of a black hole, a ring of glowing gas around the dark center of galaxy M87. Stitched together from telescopes across the planet, it showed something Einstein's equations had predicted but no one had seen.
