New Horizons sets off for Pluto
NASA launched the New Horizons probe from Cape Canaveral on a nine-year voyage to Pluto, then the most distant world ever targeted for a close visit. Its 2015 flyby finally showed Pluto as a place of icy mountains and smooth frozen plains.
