Corrections
When we get something wrong.
Trust is the one thing this letter cannot run without, so the deal on errors is simple: a real mistake gets fixed on the page and recorded here, in plain sight. No silent rewrites.
What counts
A wrong number. A quote that was altered or pinned on the wrong person. A claim its source does not actually support, or a person, place, or study misnamed. When one of those reaches a published page, we correct the page and add an entry below saying what was wrong and what it says now. Fixing a typo or smoothing a sentence that changes no meaning happens quietly; this log is for errors of fact.
How errors get caught
Most are caught before you ever see them. Every edition passes machine checks before it publishes: attributed quotes verified character for character against their sources, precise figures matched to the articles that reported them, thin or broken editions held back entirely. The checks are strict on purpose, and an edition that fails does not go out. The full method is on the methodology page. This log is for whatever slips past.
