    Henri Becquerel, who found radioactivity, is born

    Henri Becquerel was born in Paris into a family of scientists. His discovery that uranium gives off its own penetrating rays revealed radioactivity, opening a door that Marie and Pierre Curie would walk through and reshaping both physics and medicine.
