The first planet around another sun is found
Two Swiss astronomers, Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz, announced they had detected a planet orbiting a normal star like our Sun, 51 Pegasi, about 50 light-years away. It was the first of its kind ever found. Thousands of these exoplanets are known now, and the discovery won a Nobel Prize.
