The Spirit rover launches for Mars
NASA launched the Spirit rover toward Mars, the first of twin rovers sent to look for signs that the dry planet once held water. Like its twin Opportunity, it was built for a 90-day mission and lasted for years, finding rocks that had plainly formed in ancient water.
