    The first drive-in movie theater opens

    The world's first drive-in theater opened in Camden, New Jersey, letting families watch a film from the comfort of their own cars. The founder had rigged a projector, a big screen, and a sound system in his own driveway to test it. It grew into a slice of Americana that is still quietly beloved.
